For the Meatloaf
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option
  • 1 Onion (finely chopped) Can substitute with shallots
  • 1 Green Onion (chopped) Optional
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce Use tamari for gluten-free version
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar Honey or maple syrup can be used as alternatives
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Use vegetable or canola oil for a lighter taste
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Pre-minced garlic can be used
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (minced) Fresh ginger is preferable
  • 1 Egg Omit for a vegan version or use a flax egg
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper White pepper can be a substitute
  • 1 cup Ketchup Can substitute with tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste) Adjust amount based on heat preference

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  4. Prepare the glaze by blending ketchup and gochujang in a small bowl.
  5. Bake the meatloaf for 1 hour, until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  6. Rest the meatloaf for 10 minutes after removing it from the oven.
  7. Optional: Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
