For the Pastry
  • 1 sheet Puff pastry thawed
For the Filling
  • 2 medium Yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 6 oz Bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp Butter for sautéing
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
For the Finish
  • 1 large Egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan optional

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven according to the puff pastry package instructions, usually around 400°F.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s flat. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat, then add the butter and olive oil. Allow them to melt together.
  4. Sauté the thinly sliced onions for about 10-15 minutes until they become soft and caramelized.
  5. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and black pepper, cooking for an additional minute.
  6. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the pastry.
  7. Spread the caramelized onion mixture generously over the bacon.
  8. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.
  9. Optional: Sprinkle grated Parmesan on top if using.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
