- Preheat the oven according to the puff pastry package instructions, usually around 400°F.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s flat. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat, then add the butter and olive oil. Allow them to melt together.
- Sauté the thinly sliced onions for about 10-15 minutes until they become soft and caramelized.
- Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and black pepper, cooking for an additional minute.
- Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the pastry.
- Spread the caramelized onion mixture generously over the bacon.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.
- Optional: Sprinkle grated Parmesan on top if using.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
