How to Make Meringue Chicks
  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Prepare Mixing Tools: Ensure all your mixing bowls and attachments are completely grease-free.
  3. Whip Egg Whites: In a stand mixer, beat the egg whites until bubbly.
  4. Add Stabilizers: Gradually sprinkle in the cream of tartar and whip until soft peaks form.
  5. Incorporate Sugar: Slowly add the granulated sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  6. Flavor & Color: Gently mix in the vanilla extract and food coloring.
  7. Pipe Chicks: Fill a piping bag and pipe teardrop shapes for the chicks' bodies.
  8. Bake: Place your piping creations in the oven and bake for 90 minutes.
  9. Cool and Store: Allow the meringue chicks to cool completely at room temperature.
