How to Make Cheesesteak Style Sloppy Joes
- In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add 1 diced small onion and 1 diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until they’re softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Crumble in 16 ounces of ground beef, stirring frequently. Season with 1 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon black pepper, cooking until the meat is browned and cooked through.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 4 ounces of beef broth, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- In a separate small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with a splash of cold water to create a slurry. Stir this into the beef mixture, cooking for another minute until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and place a slice of cheese on each of the 4 rolls. Spoon generous amounts of the beef mixture on top.
- Plate your delicious Cheesesteak Style Sloppy Joes and serve immediately.
