How to Make Cotton Candy Cookies
  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Incorporate the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk into the butter-sugar mixture. Blend until smooth.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Carefully mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Color the Dough: Divide the dough into two equal parts. Add pink gel coloring to one half and blue to the other.
  7. Form Cookies: Roll small balls of both colored dough together and place them on your prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake: Cook your cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
