  • 1 cup Sour Cream Greek yogurt can be a healthier substitute.
  • 1 cup Whole Milk Use half-and-half or plant-based milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 6 Large Eggs Egg substitutes can be used for a vegan option.
For the Flavor Fusion
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Try pepper jack for some spice or a blend of cheeses for complexity.
  • 30 ounces Frozen Shredded Hash Browns Alternatively, use cubed day-old bread or croissants.
  • 1 packet Dry Ranch Seasoning Mix Consider homemade seasoning using herbs and spices.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • skillet
  • mixing bowl

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Sauté the beef breakfast sausage in a skillet until browned and cooked through.
  3. Drain excess grease and set aside. Cook the bacon until crispy.
  4. Prepare the hash browns by thawing and draining them, squeezing out excess moisture.
  5. Whisk together the eggs, milk, cream cheese, sour cream, ranch seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  6. Layer the hash browns in the greased baking dish, pressing them down firmly.
  7. Top with the cooked sausage and crispy bacon.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the meat mixture and pour the egg mixture on top.
  9. Finish by adding the remaining cheese on top.
  10. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 25-35 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before cutting, garnish as desired.

Notes

Ensure to thoroughly drain and squeeze out moisture from the hash browns to prevent a soggy casserole texture. Prepping the casserole the night before can save time; just pop it in the oven in the morning.
