Making the Custard
- Whisk together in a medium saucepan the almond milk, cornstarch, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Ensure the mixture is completely smooth before heating.
- Heat the saucepan over medium heat, whisking continuously until the custard starts to simmer, about 3-5 minutes. It should thicken to a creamy consistency during this time.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a minute. If desired, you can stir in a bit of turmeric for color at this stage.
- Transfer the mixture to a heat-proof glass bowl, whisking again to eliminate any lumps. Cover the surface with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the custard to set fully and achieve its smooth texture.
Optional Toppings
- Top with fresh fruits or a sprinkle of cocoa powder before serving for added flair.

Notes
For optimal freshness, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days; whisk again before serving if it thickens further.
