Method

How to Make Carrot Bacon
  1. Start by trimming and peeling your carrots. Use a mandolin or vegetable peeler to slice them lengthwise into thin strips, about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, and cloves.
  3. Place the carrot strips in a shallow container and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for 15 minutes to 1 hour.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, then cook the marinated carrot strips for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Transfer the carrot bacon to a cooling rack over a baking sheet to drain any excess oil and ensure they get crispier.
