How to Make Apple Turnovers
- Prepare the puff pastry. Ensure it's thawed if using store-bought or ready to roll if homemade.
- Mix the apple filling. Combine diced apples, cornstarch, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and sugar in a bowl.
- Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into squares or triangles.
- Fill the pastry pieces with a spoonful of the apple filling, being careful not to overfill.
- Fold over the pastry and seal the edges by pressing down with a fork or pinching them closed.
- Create the egg wash by whisking together egg and milk. Brush the mixture over the tops of the turnovers.
- Drizzle with salted caramel before serving, if desired.
