Preparation
- Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the pie crust package, typically around 425°F (220°C).
- In a mixing bowl, blend the chopped apples, caramel sauce, ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until well combined.
- Unroll one pie crust onto a lightly floured surface and roll it slightly thinner.
- Cut out circles from the rolled crust using a round cutter (about 4 inches in diameter).
- Place a tablespoon of the apple mixture in the center of each crust circle.
- Fold each circle over to create a half-moon shape and crimp edges to seal.
- If using, roll out the second crust and cut out fun Halloween shapes to place on top of each pie.
- Whisk together the egg and water, then brush over each hand pie.
- Transfer the pies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
- Let the hand pies cool on a wire rack and optionally drizzle with extra caramel before serving.
