Pancake Preparation
- Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter. Add the red food coloring and stir until well combined.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Lightly grease the skillet. Pour a ladle of batter onto the skillet for each pancake, cooking until bubbles form on the surface (about 2-3 minutes). Flip and cook until the other side is golden brown, about 2 more minutes.
- Stack the pancakes and top with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream or maple syrup.
