How to Make Spoon Bread
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of 2% milk with the cornmeal over medium heat. Stir constantly until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes, and remove from heat.
- Stir in the 2 tablespoons of butter and 3 teaspoons of sugar into the warm cornmeal mixture until melted and well combined.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly before whisking in the 3 separated egg yolks.
- In a clean bowl, beat the 3 egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the cornmeal mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.
