How to Make Sweet & Sour Tofu
- Press the Tofu: Start by removing excess moisture from the tofu. Place it between two clean towels and apply a weight on top for about 30-45 minutes.
- Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, mix together the pineapple juice, vegetable broth, rice vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, and brown sugar. Stir until well combined.
- Tear & Coat Tofu: Tear the pressed tofu into bite-sized pieces and toss them in cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat Oil: In a large pan, heat the neutral oil over medium-high heat until a drop of water sizzles in the pan.
- Fry Tofu: Carefully add the coated tofu to the hot pan and fry until golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Sauté Vegetables: Remove the crispy tofu. Toss in the onions, garlic, ginger, and bell peppers. Sauté until tender and aromatic, around 3-4 minutes.
- Combine: Pour the prepared sauce over the sautéed vegetables, add the crispy tofu back, and simmer until everything is heated through.
