Ingredients
  

For the Batter
  • 1 cup Butter use unsalted for best results
  • 1 cup Mawa homemade if unsweetened unavailable
  • 1 cup Milk any milk can be used, including plant-based
  • 1 cup Curd can replace with yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom Powder substitute with vanilla extract if preferred
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour/Maida whole wheat flour is a substitute
  • 1 cup Corn Flour omit if using cake flour
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar granulated sugar can be ground into powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder ensure freshness
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda ensure freshness
For Topping
  • 1/2 cup Cashew Nuts and Slivered Almonds any nuts can be substituted

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
  2. Cream together the butter and mawa in a large mixing bowl until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the curd and milk, whisking gently until well-combined.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl: all-purpose flour, corn flour, powdered sugar, cardamom powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients gradually, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a lined and greased 8" square or 9" round baking tin.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cake in the tin for a few minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar for decoration.
