Basic Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F, ensuring you place a rack in the middle for even baking.
- Wash and dry your medium Russet potatoes. Cut a cross shape about 1/4 inch deep into each potato.
- Place the prepared potatoes cut-side-up directly on the oven rack. Bake them for 2 hours, or until the skin is beautifully crisp.
- Carefully remove the potatoes from the oven. Make deeper cuts along the initial cross and gently open them slightly.
- Return the opened potatoes to the oven for an additional 10 minutes. Top with butter, flaky salt, and black pepper.
