Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast. Gradually pour in the warm water while stirring to form a soft dough that holds together.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch the dough down gently to release air. Divide it into smaller pieces and roll each into small circles, about 3 inches in diameter.
Filling & Steaming
- While the dough rises, cook your chosen protein in a pan with soy sauce and Sriracha until caramelized. Mix in chopped vegetables like cabbage or carrots.
- Place a spoonful of the filling on each dough circle. Fold over and pinch the edges to seal. Steam in a bamboo steamer lined with parchment paper for 15 minutes.
