Gingerbread Donuts Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, blend all-purpose flour, lukewarm water, lukewarm milk, white sugar, instant yeast, and a pinch of salt until well incorporated.
- Melt the unsalted butter and gently stir it into the mixture, then knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, roughly 1 hour.
- Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface, cut into desired shapes, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- In a frying pan, heat neutral oil over medium heat until it's shimmering, ready for frying.
- Carefully place the donuts into the oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they’re golden brown.
- In a bowl, mix the white sugar and ground cinnamon together to create your cinnamon sugar coating.
- Once fried, toss the warm donuts into the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated for that extra sweet touch.
- For the creamy spiced filling, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar until smooth.
- Gradually add thickened cream, continuing to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then stir in ground ginger, ground cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg until well blended.
