Method

Gingerbread Donuts Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, blend all-purpose flour, lukewarm water, lukewarm milk, white sugar, instant yeast, and a pinch of salt until well incorporated.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter and gently stir it into the mixture, then knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, roughly 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface, cut into desired shapes, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  5. In a frying pan, heat neutral oil over medium heat until it's shimmering, ready for frying.
  6. Carefully place the donuts into the oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they’re golden brown.
  7. In a bowl, mix the white sugar and ground cinnamon together to create your cinnamon sugar coating.
  8. Once fried, toss the warm donuts into the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated for that extra sweet touch.
  9. For the creamy spiced filling, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar until smooth.
  10. Gradually add thickened cream, continuing to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then stir in ground ginger, ground cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg until well blended.
