How to Make Buñuelos
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the unsalted butter and mix until the consistency resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and hot water, blending until a soft dough forms.
- On a floured surface, knead the dough gently for about 5-6 minutes, then let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the rested dough into 14-15 equal portions, roll each piece into a ball, and flatten into thin circles.
- Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat and cook each disk for about 10 seconds per side.
- In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry each disk for about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and coat with the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm.
