Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Can use gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter Margarine can be substituted.
  • 1/4 cup Sugar Coconut sugar can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Almond extract can be used as variation.
  • 1/2 cup Hot Water
For Frying
  • 2 cups Canola or Vegetable Oil Any neutral oil can be used.
For Dusting
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon

Method
 

How to Make Buñuelos
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the unsalted butter and mix until the consistency resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and hot water, blending until a soft dough forms.
  4. On a floured surface, knead the dough gently for about 5-6 minutes, then let it rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Divide the rested dough into 14-15 equal portions, roll each piece into a ball, and flatten into thin circles.
  6. Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat and cook each disk for about 10 seconds per side.
  7. In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry each disk for about 1-2 minutes per side.
  8. Drain on paper towels and coat with the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm.
