Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and brown sugar. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture resembles damp crumbs.
- Firmly press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden.
- Spread a generous layer of thick caramel sauce over the crust while still warm.
- Sprinkle chocolate chunks evenly over the caramel layer, followed by any optional chopped nuts.
- Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top, and allow them to melt.
- Add a pinch of flaky sea salt on top if desired. Let cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before slicing into bars.
