How to Make Chocolate Cherry Upside Down Cake
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Cake Pan: Line a 9-inch round or a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and grease the sides.
- Make Cherry Topping: Melt butter, add granulated sugar and caramelize for 2-3 minutes, then stir in cherries and pour into the prepared pan.
- Make Cake Batter: Combine dry ingredients, mix wet ingredients, combine both, and add boiling water until smooth.
- Assemble and Bake: Pour batter over cherries and bake for 35-40 minutes until clean toothpick.
- Cool and Invert: Cool for 10 minutes, run knife around edges, invert onto a platter.
