Ingredients
  

Meatball Mixture
  • 1 cup Italian Bread Crumbs Can substitute with fresh bread, adjust moisture level
  • 1/2 cup Milk Almond milk or any other milk can be used
  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80-85% lean recommended
  • 1 medium Onion Can substitute with shallots or green onions
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh is recommended, can use powder
  • 1 large Egg No substitutes
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper No substitutes necessary
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese Pecorino Romano can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley Dried can work too, reduce amount
Optional Toppings
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce Homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese For a gooey topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the Italian bread crumbs and milk, allowing it to sit for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, parmesan, and parsley to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix gently until just combined.
  4. Using damp hands, roll the mixture into 2-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the meatballs from the oven, drain excess fat, and serve with your sauce of choice.
