  • 1 tsp Anise Fragrant, can be omitted if unavailable.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Enhances sweetness.
For Coating
  • 1/2 cup Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture Roll warm cookies for finishing touch.

How to Make Pan de Polvo
  1. Make Cinnamon-Anise Tea: Boil a stick of canela and an anise star in 1 cup of water for 3 minutes. Allow to cool.
  2. Prepare Dough: Mix flour, cornstarch, sugar, lard, and salt until crumbly but holds together.
  3. Incorporate Tea: Mix in 1/2 cup of cooled tea, knead until soft but firm.
  4. Chill Dough: Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic film, and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 360°F (180°C) and prepare baking trays.
  6. Roll and Cut: Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick, cut shapes with a cookie cutter.
  7. Bake: Bake for 18-20 minutes until light golden brown.
  8. Coat & Cool: Roll warm cookies in cinnamon-sugar, cool on a wire rack.
