Ingredients

For the Batter
  • 3 medium ripe bananas Choose bananas with lots of brown spots for natural sweetness and moisture.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter Adds richness; substitute with dairy-free alternatives like vegan butter for a lighter loaf.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Consider using half coconut sugar for a healthier twist.
  • 1 large egg Can be swapped for a flax egg to make it vegan.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Always opt for pure vanilla extract for the best result.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Acts as the leavening agent; crucial not to substitute this with baking powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt An essential ingredient that should never be omitted.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Feel free to substitute half with whole wheat flour for extra fiber.
  • 14 cookies Oreo cookies Mix crushed and chunk pieces for texture.

Equipment

  • 9x5-inch loaf pan
  • mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher

How to Make Oreo Banana Bread
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl using a fork or a potato masher, aiming for a smooth consistency.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until fully combined.
  4. Mix in the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until everything is well integrated.
  5. Sprinkle in the baking soda and a pinch of salt, mixing well.
  6. Fold in the all-purpose flour gently until just combined.
  7. Add 10 crushed Oreo cookies into the batter, leaving some larger chunks for texture.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining 4 crushed Oreos on top.
  9. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
