Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
For the Toppings
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons green onions (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • skillet
  • Oven

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the chicken to perfection.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Once done, drain the excess fat and crumble the bacon for topping.
  3. Rub both sides of your chicken breasts with olive oil. Season them with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high and sear your seasoned chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and halfway cooked.
  5. Lower the heat to medium, pour BBQ sauce over the chicken, and top with crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and optional red pepper flakes. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
