Directions
  1. Soak the liver in milk for 30 minutes to mellow the flavor.
  2. Thinly slice one large sweet onion while the liver is soaking.
  3. Melt three tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in two minced garlic cloves after the onions are caramelized.
  6. Remove liver from milk, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook liver in skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned but slightly pink inside.
  8. Serve liver topped with caramelized onions and garnish with herbs if desired.
