How to Make Breakfast Casserole
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it lightly with butter.
  2. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbled.
  3. Combine the cooked sausage, shredded hash browns, green and red peppers, diced onion, and both cheeses in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, half and half, seasoned salt, kosher salt, black pepper, and optional dry mustard until thoroughly blended.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the hash brown mixture and stir gently to combine everything evenly.
  6. Transfer the combined mixture to your prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes or until the casserole is set in the center and golden brown on top.
