  • 1 medium Onion sliced thinly
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese freshly shredded
  • 4 tablespoons Butter unsalted
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder optional
For the Pork Chops
  • 6 pieces Pork Chops (bone-in, 1-inch thick)

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Generously butter a 9x13 baking dish.
  3. Slice the potatoes and onion into thin rounds, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Combine the sliced potatoes and onions with milk, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl.
  5. Spread the potato mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish and dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  6. Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper and place them on top of the potato mixture.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes, then flip the pork chops and continue baking for an additional 25-30 minutes until the chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F and the potatoes are tender.
  8. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.
