- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, ricotta, minced garlic, chopped basil, panko breadcrumbs, and eggs until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Roll the mixture into uniform golf ball-sized meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add meatballs in batches, browning for 6-8 minutes until golden.
- Remove meatballs and add chopped onion to the same skillet. Sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper to the onions.
- Return meatballs, cover, and let simmer on low for 15-20 minutes.
