Basic Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: oil, buttermilk, eggs, cocoa powder, green food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pans, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
