For the Sweet Potatoes
  • 4-5 medium Sweet Potatoes peeled and sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
For the Sauce
  • ½ cup Butter unsalted
  • ¾ cup Brown Sugar packed
  • ½ cup White Sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Nutmeg optional
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Juice lemon juice can substitute

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into even 1/2 inch rounds.
  3. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden and bubbly.
  4. Stir in the brown and white sugar until smooth.
  5. Add cinnamon and nutmeg, mixing well.
  6. Remove from heat and gently mix in the orange juice.
  7. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and arrange the sweet potato slices in a single layer.
  8. Sprinkle salt evenly over the sweet potatoes.
  9. Drizzle the sauce over the sweet potatoes.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40-45 minutes until tender.
  11. Cool briefly before serving.
