Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the warm water, granulated sugar, and instant yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add salt, olive oil, and all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until it forms a soft dough.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) while the dough rises.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to your desired thickness. Spread the zaatar over the top.
- Transfer the dough to a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle a little more zaatar before serving warm.
