How to Make Crispy Chilli Beef
- Slice the beef sirloin or flank steak thinly against the grain into strips.
- In a bowl, mix together cornstarch, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Add in the egg and enough water to create a smooth batter.
- Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat it to medium-high.
- Take the beef strips, dip them in the batter, and carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- In a wok or large pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic, ginger, onions, and bell peppers, sautéing for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and sugar. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add your crispy beef back into the pan and toss everything together, stir-frying for another 2-3 minutes.
- Finish your dish with sliced chilies and chopped green onions for garnish. Serve immediately.
