  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano Any Italian seasoning blend works
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika Consider using smoked paprika
  • to taste Salt and Black Pepper Kosher salt can create a coarser texture
For the Lemon Garlic Yogurt Sauce
  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt Substitute with dairy-free for vegan option
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice Fresh lime juice can be used
For the Fresh Fillings
  • 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes Any ripe variety works
  • 1/2 cup Sliced Cucumber Bell peppers can make a delightful swap
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley Cilantro can be used for a different flavor

Method
 

Directions
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until softened and slightly translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef along with cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is nicely browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together plain Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy.
  5. Warm the pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.
  6. Fill each warm pita with the cooked beef mixture, then add chopped tomatoes, sliced cucumber, and a sprinkle of fresh parsley.
  7. Drizzle the lemon garlic yogurt sauce over the filled pitas and serve immediately.
